Responsive Website Design
Thankfully, webmasters across the globe came to some standardization of code that allows websites to conform to ANY size screen/monitor and any possible orientation, swiftly and efficiently.
The basic rules of the road for responsive website design (also known as HTML5 standardization) are:
- Media queries and media query listeners
- A flexible grid-based layout that uses relative vs. fixed sizing
- Flexible images and media, through dynamic resizing or CSS
Truly responsive Web design requires all three features to be implemented.
Updating Your Website
Chances are if your website was developed before 2013, it is not fully-responsive. Additionally, your website is being penalized by Google within search engine results because they now rank responsive sites HIGHER than non-responsive sites. That’s right. Regardless of the new content you put on that old site, its not going to move up in the SERP’s.
Bash Foo has worked with small businesses to update their sites to make their current website code responsive. More often than not, we are engaged to fully re-design the site with optimized graphics, text and calls to action.
